Consists of twelve letters, dating from 26 April to 26 May 1930, regarding the tercentenary of Watertown, Massachusetts, chaired by Fred E. Crawford. Includes three typed letters signed by Calvin Coolidge to Crawford concerning remarks to be made at the occasion. Also included are two typed letters unsigned by Fred E. Crawford, one to Calvin Coolidge reassuring him about the expected brevity of his address and one to Mr. and Mrs. Coolidge thanking them for attending the occasion.

Frank Waterman Stearns, 1856-1939, was the son of Richard Hall Stearns and Louisa Maria Waterman (1836-1922). Frank's father Richard was the founder of R.H. Stearns Co., an extremely successful women's specialty store in Boston. Frank Stearns served as a director of R.H. Stearns Co. from 1880 until his death in 1939.
